A Century Shaped by Values

Chowgule’s journey began in 1916 with the production of roofing tiles. As the founder’s sons joined the company, it expanded into commodity trading, consumer products, and vehicles. Notably, in 1947, we shipped manganese ore from Goa to Czechoslovakia, marking our first venture into resource mining and trading.
Recognizing the opportunity to expand mining operations, especially to support Japan’s postwar economic strategy, one of the brothers, Vishvasrao Chowgule, traveled to Japan. He secured a deal that allowed the Japanese to fund a mechanized mining operation in exchange for a supply of iron ore, a critical raw material for their steel mills.
This pioneering mechanized mining operation in India led to the emergence of various ancillary support industries. The Chowgule family expanded to meet this demand, from constructing and repairing barges to manufacturing industrial explosives.
In the ensuing years, each of our enterprises charted its own growth path, continually developing products to meet evolving client needs and exploring new horizons.”

An Ultra-Modern Shipyard

Chowgule Global boasts a rich maritime heritage, dating back to the 1930s when we started as shipping agents in the Goan port town of Mormugao. Over the years, we have diversified and honed our maritime expertise.
Our portfolio now encompasses Chowgule Lavgan with a special focus on Commercial vessels and Rig repairs, serving the Indian Navy and Coast Guard fleets, as well as offshore structures fabrication & decommissioning.

The Shipyard is strategically located at only 70 Nautical Miles from Mumbai High oil fields, and this gives it an ascendancy to provide its services to the Upstream Oil & Gas companies.
The sheltered waters at Jaigad protect the shipyard from swells of monsoon and allows it to operate throughout the year. With an area of 30 acres developed land, completely constructed waterfront Jetty of 260 Mtrs. and syncrolift dry docking the Yard is a ultra-modern state of art facility.
